Rhythm Knits
What’s your story?
I became an indie dyer purely out of curiosity. I've always loved knitting and crocheting and I was fascinated by how indie dyers speckled yarn or dyed variegated skeins. (I love gradient skeins as well, but I haven't figured that one out yet.) So in 2016, I purchased some bare yarn and started experimenting. I was in my kitchen dyeing, listening to Eric Clapton's rendition of "I Shot the Sheriff," and dancing. My (then) husband laughed and said, "You should name your business Rhythmless Knits because you can't dance!" So I dropped the ending and Rhythm Knits was born. The journey has been amazing building friendships and community. At trunk shows in previous years, customers were asking me for hugs because they'd been following me on Instagram or Facebook for so long, and were finally happy to meet me in person.
What are your values?
As a small business owner, I value community, conversation, culture, integrity, and discipline. I look at my struggles with seasonal depression and severe anxiety and how I have these intermittent times where I lose all my mojo (dyeing included), especially after my grandmother passed away in 2020. My ultimate goal is to build community and help newbie and seasoned crafters alike find their rhythm through any situation. You never know what someone is going through and it's always best to be kind. Whether it's depression, anxiety, or something else, getting into a positive routine, even if it's just for five minutes a day, is so important for self-care, releasing creativity, and ultimately feeling better. It's not a one-size-fits-all solution, but getting into a rhythm can certainly help mind, body, and spirit.
What can we find at Rhythm Knits?
